We have been wanting to get you all updated about the 3 horses that you so generously donated to help. There were a lot of different people involved in helping these horses, and we finally have the full story.
First off, we would like to thank the White Kitty Foundation and their countless volunteers for their tireless efforts in helping these horses. You can visit their website by clicking here.
We don’t have everyone’s names, but we cannot thank you enough, and especially the volunteers who took their time and gas to drive the horses from the Animal Control to our vet office. The horses arrived safely on Friday and were settled in for the weekend. We were a little confused about where the horses came from, one we were told was an owner surrender, but they were all seized in the same abuse case, sadly two of the other horses seized at the same time had to be euthanized for health reasons.
Sally is very very skinny. Looking at her you can only imagine she was once fat and happy. It is so sad to see horses in such terrible condition.
There is a lot of hope in her face. Looking at her we wondered what her story could be. Under her lip was a tattoo that revealed her true identity: her name is Likegranma and she is only 5 years old.
Only 7 months ago she was a beautiful athlete competing on the racetrack. She wasn’t fast enough and…
…a few months later, she looks like this, because the racing industry threw her away when they were done with her.
Pantera is also skinny with a sad bedraggled look on her face.
She is not as thin as Likegranma, but she definitely needs some good food.
You can see almost every rib and her spine is clearly visible. Pantera also has a tattoo that reveals her identity: her name is Lady Begone and she is 10 years old.
She too was on the racetrack and won over $10,000, which wasn’t enough to keep her safe. Really, it doesn’t matter how much a horse wins at the racetrack, they are still thrown away in the end 99% of the time.
Lucero is an adorable little guy who is the sweetest little horse you’ll ever meet. It’s hard to get a picture of him because he wants to be near you and he wants to be loved.
He doesn’t have a tattoo because he was never raced. He started his life out rough, he is about 1 year old, but thanks to your support his life got a whole lot better.
You can watch a video we made about Lady Begone by clicking here.
And you can watch Likegranma’s video we made by clicking here.
Again we would like to thank everyone who was involved in this rescue and to everyone who gave financially for these horses. Thanks to you, these 3 special horses have a bright and happy future.
