I want to thank each and every person who has made a donation to our Auction Rescue fundraiser. Over 200 people have donated to help save horses from the slaughter pipeline at the auction we are going to today. We now have enough funds to rescue 10 horses from the auction. It cost approximately $1,000 to rescue a horse from the auction, give them medical care, quarantine, training, and get them adopted into a new loving home. Our quarantine facility can handle up to 20 horses, and we would love to save more than the 10 we have currently raised funds for. We will save as many as funds allow.
We always wish we could save them all, but that has never been possible as there are over 100 horses typically at this auction. When horses are at auctions they can tell their lives are in jeopardy. They are handled roughly, and when a person comes along and gives them sympathy and love, they soak it up as if they know it could be the last time they will receive compassion from a human. At one of the auctions, I took pictures of the horses’ expressions. You can see fear and anxiety in their faces. With your help, we can turn that fear into hope, and hope into reality. Give now!
