We are coming to California for a 1-Day Open Door Shelter for Horses

We, Horse Plus Humane Society,  will be holding a Free 1-Day Open Door Shelter for horses at Amador County Fairgrounds near Sacramento, CA on February 25th.  We offer 1-Day Open Door Shelters for Horses across the United States. 1-Day Open Door Shelters give horse owners the option to surrender their horse without any cost to them. We have done these across the United States and over 400 equines have been surrendered through this program.  Last year we did a 1-Day Open Door Shelter in Roseville, CA and 102 horses were surrendered.   We will have three+ veterinarians and two+ professional trainers at the event evaluating horses for adoptability based on health / training / behavior.  Adoptable horses are placed with reputable 501(c)3 Animal Welfare organizations.  Due to the busyness of these 1-Day Open Door Shelters for Horses, we are unable to do adoptions at these events, we rely on Adoption Partners to adopt the horses out after the event.

Become an Adoption PartnerClick Here – We are looking for 501(c)3 horse welfare organizations to partner up to take adoptable horses. We pay Adoption Partners $150 per horse they can take into their program. All the horses will be vet checked and have a trainer’s evaluation done before becoming available to Adoption Partners.

Become a Foster Home – One of our Adoption Partners, Sonoma Action For Equine Rescue, can take more horses if they can get more foster homes in Santa Rosa County, Lake County and in the Sonoma area. They are looking for foster homes that could take 3 or more horses.  Sonoma Action For Equine Rescue said that they would pay foster homes for the feed, farrier, and vet expenses.
