Thanks to your generosity and support we were able to save 21 horses tonight from the slaughter pipeline! You are absolutely awesome and we couldn’t have done it without each and every person stepping forward and saying “Yes, I want to help save lives!”
As you saw in the previous email several of the horses are in very critical condition. One of the horses is in extremely critical condition with some of the worst injuries we’ve seen at auctions. His pictures are so horrific I don’t even know what Facebook would do if we posted them on social media, and I wouldn’t want children to see this level of abuse. I will figure out a way to share his story soon. We don’t know if he’s going to make it, but we’re going to do everything we can for him. We were able to save the horse with the injured face as well. It’s been a very emotionally draining day/night and I just want to thank you all for coming together and making this Rescue Mission possible. I believe the reason we are seeing such a high number of injured horses at this auction is because kill buyers cannot export horses into Mexico with open wounds so they are dumping injured horses off at auctions and replacing them with horses that are not injured in hopes that they will stay in one piece by the time they get to the border and can be shipped to slaughter.
It is the reality of the slaughter pipeline, and it’s cruel, horrible and unjust. Animals that are being shipped for meat have hardly any rights, and that has got to change.
Again thank you so much for your support and please keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates. ~ Tawnee Preisner
