Thanks to all of your support, we were able to rescue an amazing 11 horses from the slaughter pipeline and our adoption partners rescued an additional 4 for a total of 15 lives saved last night!
We attended an auction we usually don’t go to. We visit various auctions in our area to see how the animals are treated at those auctions and what prices are. When our team arrived at the auction they found there were only about 25 horses in the holding pens waiting to be sold. They were able to spend some time with each horse and get to know them before the sale. This auction did not allow photos on their property, and we were unable to take any. After the auction was over, about 9:30 pm, the horses were settled into nice pens with fresh hay and clean water for the night. 3 of the horses we rescued went directly to one of our long-time adoption partners for placement.
When the horses arrived at our shelter Sunday morning, they were dewormed, vaccinated, microchipped and had their intake process done. After their intake process was done they were turned out in the pasture. The look of relief on their faces was so rewarding. They had all been through so much, and now to have a quiet, peaceful pasture to spend their quarantine in must be such a relief for them.
They are all very beautiful, and owe their life to your support of our rescue efforts. We couldn’t have saved these precious lives without your help. Keep an eye on our Facebook page, we’ll be posting each one and they will need names!
Thank you so much for your support, both financial and emotional. We couldn’t do it without you!
