The Horses are SAFE!

It has been an incredible 2 days of auction rescue, transport, intake and settling each and every horse in, but thanks to our dedicated staff and volunteers, all of the horses rescued at last night’s auction are safe.  Thanks to your support, we were able to rescue 26 horses at this auction, but sadly one was so far gone it passed away in the auction yard before we could get it any medical care.  Our hearts ached as we gave him all the love and compassion we could. You can read more about him at this link, click here.

Early this morning our rescue team was at the auction yard sorting the horses so each horse would be comfortable riding with its companions.  All of the horses were photographed, then loaded into the trailers for the ride to the shelter.  A tremendous rain storm made the journey longer, but thankfully the sun was shining when the trailers pulled up to the shelter.

After being unloaded the horses were seen by our veterinarians, given vaccinations, microchipped, given antibiotics, probiotics, electrolytes, whatever they needed to stay as healthy as possible.  Our farrier was able to get the most critical ones cared for today, and will be back out on Monday to get the rest done.  The two stallions were gelded successfully too.

We posted a video with all of the horses to our Facebook page, which you can watch by clicking here.  Keep a close eye on our Facebook page for the opportunity to suggest names!

We cannot thank you enough for your support that made this amazing rescue of 26 horses possible.
