Urgent Need Grant
The Urgent Need grant was created for non-profit organizations who have an urgent need that directly impacts the welfare of horses. It is intended to be utilized in a variety of circumstances to directly benefit horses in need, whether that be an individual horse or a herd. Applicants may apply for this grant at any time and the grant request will be considered for approval by our grant committee. We cannot guarantee all requests will be approved, but all applications will be considered.
Requirements: Applying organization must be a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, have good Veterinarian and Farrier references, and the ability to transport and quarantine horses rescued. Organization agrees to make a public Facebook post (using Horse Plus Humane Society *Facebook template) acknowledging Horse Plus Humane Society for the assistance received by this grant. This post or information it contains may be shared on Horse Plus Humane Society's main Facebook page.
Pictures/videos and other related media, specific to the request, will be required before approval of the application will be granted. Horse Plus Humane Society reserves the right to request additional or different types of media, if provided media is inadequate due to technical limitations or content- in relation to the application being considered.
Criteria: The award amount of the Urgent Need grant is open-ended and to be determined based on individual applications. It is intended to be awarded to nonprofit organizations who have the opportunity to directly benefit a horse or group of horses in crisis. It is not for capital improvement, miscellaneous operational expenses, purchasing horses from kill buyers, feedlots, kill pens.
Applicants may apply for this grant at any time and the grant request will be considered for approval by our grant committee. We cannot guarantee all requests will be approved, but all applications will be considered. Uses for this grant may include, but are not limited to:
Emergency feed costs | Emergency medical costs | Unexpected rescue expenses | Animal cruelty cases | Owner surrender(s) | Horses in jeopardy of entering slaughter pipeline | Rescuing horses off of slaughter semi trucks in route to slaughter| Rescuing of abandoned horses | Etc.
Reporting: Horse Plus Humane Society reserves the right to require additional or varied reporting documentation which may include invoices, veterinarian reports, animal cruelty or law enforcement seizure documentation, etc.
